Gluteoplasty is the procedure through which we improve the contour of the patient’s buttocks. To achieve this goal, various surgical techniques are available. It is widely known that the patient’s own fat is the ideal material for making this change. With this fat, we can increase volume, enhance projection, and improve the shape of the glutes. However, it is important to consider that a portion of the injected fat tends to be reabsorbed. This reabsorption depends on several factors, such as the patient’s age, whether they have had previous procedures, and the presence of underlying conditions. On average, about 40% of the grafted fat is reabsorbed.
When a patient wants to improve the appearance of their glutes but does not have enough fat tissue available to achieve the desired result, a hybrid gluteoplasty can be performed. gluteoplastia híbridaThis procedure involves placing gluteal implants, which can vary in size according to the patient’s contour and expectations. Afterward, fat is taken from other areas of the body and used to smooth the transition between the implant and the gluteal tissue, creating a natural and harmonious result.
The procedure is performed under anesthesia in a specialized plastic surgery operating room, with all necessary health certifications. It typically lasts between 3 to 5 hours.
Regarding postoperative care, we recommend avoiding positions that may interfere with the healing process of the treated area. Therefore, the patient should not sit or lie directly on their glutes for a period of 2 to 3 months. To facilitate this process, special pillows designed to prevent pressure on the glutes are used. The patient will need to sleep on their stomach and can move around by walking without issues.
For pain management, we recommend using a pain pump, a device that continuously administers medication to control pain, providing comfort during the first 5 days following the procedure.
When is it indicated?
This procedure is indicated for:
- Patients who wish to improve the contour of their glutes.
- Patients looking to increase the volume and projection of their glutes.
- Patients who do not have enough fat tissue available to achieve the desired result.
- Patients who want to undergo a hybrid gluteoplasty, combining implants with fat transfer.
- Patients seeking a natural and harmonious result in the contour of their glutes.
How is it performed?
It is important to always conduct a pre-surgical consultation to determine the patient’s requirements, expectations, and conditions before the procedure. After this, the surgical intervention is performed in an operating room with complete asepsis and antisepsis. An incision is made on the inner part of the cheek, inside the mouth, and dissection is done until the buccal fat pad is located. Approximately 70% of the fat is extracted, ensuring there is no bleeding before concluding the procedure.
