The accessory mammary gland is a condition where additional breast tissue develops outside the normal location of the breasts. Many patients have this extra tissue in areas such as the armpits, abdomen, or groin, which can cause both aesthetic and functional discomfort.
Surgical procedures can be used to address these areas of accessory breast tissue. In the armpits, this tissue may form a lump that becomes uncomfortable when wearing certain clothing or during physical activity. In such cases, we perform surgical removal to improve appearance and alleviate discomfort. Additionally, this extra breast tissue can respond to hormonal changes, causing pain or sensitivity during the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Removing this tissue can relieve these symptoms and prevent potential complications in the future.
At Majestic Plastic Surgery, we believe that the final result largely depends on the surgeon’s concept of beauty. The combination of feminine and masculine perspectives and the presence of two surgeons during the same procedure ensures a superior view of body harmony, reduced surgical time, and unparalleled support, resulting in exceptional outcomes.
When it is recommended:
This procedure is indicated for patients with:
- Additional breast tissue in areas outside the breasts.
- Aesthetic or functional discomfort due to accessory breast tissue.
- Pain or sensitivity in the additional breast tissue during hormonal changes.
- A desire to remove lumps in the armpits, abdomen, or other areas caused by accessory breast tissue.
How It Is Performed:
We always conduct a pre-surgical consultation to determine the requirements and expectations of our patient. The procedure is performed in an operating room with complete asepsis and antisepsis.
- Removal of accessory breast tissue: An incision is made in the affected area, and the additional tissue is extracted. The incision is closed with sutures, and a dressing is applied to aid recovery.
- Pain and inflammation management: Precise surgical techniques are used to minimize trauma and promote quick recovery.
